Unlike
enrolling in a traditional college course where you can only
register on certain specified days, you can enroll in
six-month learning contract courses at any time during
normal business hours, any day of any week.
To initiate
the process, you must take the following steps:
1.
Contact the Learning Contract Office. Request the course(s)
you are interested in taking; you may take up to two learning
contract courses at any one time. You must also identify your
status as one of the following:
a.
External Degree Program* student
b. Troy
resident student
c.
Student at another college or university
d. A
student who does not fall into one of the above categories,
i.e., you are a high school graduate, are not currently
pursuing a degree at some college or university, are not
currently under academic suspension from another
institution, and do simply want to take courses for personal
or professional growth.
2. Wait
until you receive written information from the Learning
Contract Office. You will receive the appropriate forms
according to your status, as well as a copy of the learning
contract and the course's requirements.
3. Review
the course's requirements when they arrive. If you feel the
course meets your needs, go on to step 4. If the course does
not meet your needs, go back to step 1.
4.
Complete the form(s) in accordance with the accompanying
instructions. Return the form(s) to Troy
University Montgomery Campus along with the required
tuition and payment for the learning materials.
5.
Actions in this step will vary depending on your status:
a.
External Degree Program* student: No other action is
required.
b. Troy
University Montgomery Campus resident student: No
other action is required.
c.
Student at another college or university: Do the following:
(1)
Provide to Troy University Montgomery
Campus an original copy of a transient
authorization form signed by the dean and registrar at
your parent institution.
(2)
Certify to Troy University Montgomery
Campus, via official transcript or your dean's
verbal verification, that you have met any/all
prerequisite(s) for the course.
d. Any
student not included in one of the previous categories: Do
the following:
(1)
Submit to Troy University Montgomery
Campus an official transcript from the last
attended regionally accredited college/university. If you
have no college, send official evidence of high school
completion.
(2)
Certify to Troy University Montgomery
Campus, via official transcript, that any/all
prerequisite(s) for the course has/have been met.
NOTE:
If you are in this category, you will be admitted to
the university as an "Unclassified" student. As such, you
may take up to 20 quarter hours of work at Troy
University Montgomery Campus. If you are accepted in this
status but you later decide to pursue a degree with us,
you must make formal application for admission in
accordance with established procedures.
When your
transcripts, forms and payment are received, we will arrange to
have the Troy University Montgomery Campus
Bookstore send the required learning materials to you along with
receipts for all monies paid. Once you receive your materials,
you will be able to contact your instructor and begin your
studies.
You will
have a total of six months in which to complete any course in
which you enroll, and you may complete a course in as little as
five weeks. The official start and end dates will be indicated
on the learning contract that you will receive for your records.
If a course
requires you to take a test, we will ask you to identify someone
in your local area who will agree to act as our testing agent.
Because the tests are controlled items, we ask that you contact
people in the following categories to act as test administrator:
an education services officer at a military base, a college or
university testing officer,
Gene Elrod
Success
center director or high school counselor.
