Celtic Legends

Celtic Legends is a labor of love fusing artistry of both Irish music and dance into an exhilarating evening of entertainment. Along with the graceful steps from some of the finest Irish dancers in the world, this performance will feature the ethereal voice of Irish singing sensation, Michael Londra - the voice of Riverdance on Broadway - and completely live traditional and contemporary folk music from brilliant musicians playing fiddles, pipes, accordion, whistles and guitars. Freaturing Matthew and Gunnar Nelson and the Stone Canyon Band

The Nelson family achieved immortality with The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet. Ricky Nelson emerged from the series popularity to establish himself as a popular musician from the 50s, 60s and 70s. With such songs as "Traveling Man," "Garden Party," and "It's Late," Ricky Nelson's music entertained generations. His sons went on to become top recording artists as well with such hits as "Love and Affection," "After the Rain," and "More Than Ever." A Salute to Our Nation's Veterans

Join the Troy University Symphony Band and Conductor Ralph Ford for a stirring tribute to our armed forces. The Troy Symphony Band will present an evening of music that includes classic overtures, works by American composers, great marches and patriotic music. The evening's program will culminate with a salute to the men and women who have served and are currently serving our country. The Symphony Band, a concert ensemble of 80 players - most of whom are music majors, is under the baton of Director of Bands Ralph Ford.


From Beethoven to Broadway - An Evening of Song

Troy University faculty members, Dr. Margaret Jackson and Dr. Michael Hix will present an entertaining evening featuring a variety of vocal pieces including solo and duet works by Handel, Beethoven, Fauré, Rogers and Hammerstein, Cole Porter and others. This gifted husband and wife duo each have numerous achievements to their credit. Dr. Jackson has more than 30 world and U.S. premieres to her name and has performed with operatic, symphonic and chamber ensembles throughout the United States and abroad. Dr. Hix was featured recently as a soloist on the “Bernstein on Broadway” concert with the Boston Pops and was also a vocal fellow at the Tanglewood Music Center.


The Capitol Sounds

The Capitol Sounds Concert Band in Montgomery, Alabama, is an allvolunteer, non-profit organization supported by the City of Montgomery Parks and Recreation Department. As the official band for the City of Montgomery, the Capitol Sounds Concert Band frequently performs at events in and around central Alabama. Their performance for Troy University's Davis Theater for the Performing Arts will consist of several selections featuring musicians and soloists from Montgomery and the surrounding area. The band is under the direction of John Jackson, music director for the City of Montgomery.


The Montgomery Chorale

Tuesday, May 13, 2008 7:00 p.m.

Join the Montgomery Chorale for a sampler of their best choral pieces from their 33rd season as Montgomery’s official community singing group and the city’s oldest performing arts organization. Also joining in this program will be the Montgomery Youth Chorale and other outreach programs from this group of talented local singers. Year in and year out, the Chorale’s performers have provided something for everyone from both classical and popular compositions. The Chorale is under the direction of Rebecca Taylor, artistic director and conductor of the Montgomery Chorale.
