Admissions Requirements

First-time in college
First time students wishing to enroll in classes taught on campus may apply for admission if they have a high school diploma from a state or regionally accredited high school. Also, effective Fall Semester 2005, students who graduate from non-accredited high schools or home school programs may apply for admission to TROY-Montgomery Campus using the same admissions criteria that is used for graduates of accredited high schools.

Transfer students
Students transferring from another college or university into our undergraduate program must submit official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended. To be unconditionally admitted, you must have attempted 24 hours or more of college level courses, with at least a 2.00 GPA. Students with less than a 2.0 may be admitted “conditionally.” In no case will a student who has been suspended from another institution be admitted until the suspension time has been served.

Graduate students
Students applying to one of our graduate programs must submit official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended. In addition, all of our programs require that a graduate admission test score must also be submitted. Please see the program section of the graduate bulletin for more information regarding test scores. A letter of recommendation is required.

International students
Since TROY-Montgomery Campus does not issue the I-20, we are unable to admit international students who will be attending on an F- 1 VISA. International officers and dependents who are officially stationed at Maxwell AFB are usually on a “J” status VISA and are admissible to TROY-Montgomery Campus.

Readmission
Students who have attended another college or university since last attending TROY-Montgomery Campus -- For those students who have attended another institution since their last enrollment at TROY-Montgomery Campus, there is a requirement to complete another application for admission. The entire application must be completed. Failure to complete this application will be considered withholding information from TROY-Montgomery Campus, and may make the student ineligible for admission and enrollment. This would result in a forfeiture of credit earned.

Students who have not attended another college or university since last attending TROY-Montgomery Campus -- You must answer the questions regarding enrollment on the request for class schedule at the time of registration. Failure to answer these questions may result in the student being considered ineligible for admission and enrollment.

Students who were “dropped from the program” at TROY-Montgomery Campus -- Those undergraduate students whose academic performance resulted in a dropped from program status must petition the undergraduate admissions committee for readmission after waiting one calendar year. The deadline for petitions is listed in the academic calendar of each class schedule. If readmission is offered, the student will have limits placed on his/her enrollment and must satisfy the limits in order to continue to enroll.

Graduate students who do not maintain a satisfactory grade point average will also be “dropped from program.” Graduate students must petition the Graduate Council for readmission to the graduate program. For further information please contact the Dean of Graduate Studies.

Students who were suspended from TROY-Montgomery Campus -- Students suspended from TROY-Montgomery Campus must wait for readmission until the suspension has been served. Contact an academic advisor or a member of the Registrar’s staff for further information.

Students who were suspended from another college or university -- TROY-Montgomery Campus requires that all students serve the suspension given by any institution. Once the suspension has been served, the student may be admitted conditionally.
